Haruki Ryles is a 20-year-old emerging filmmaker and passionate storyteller based in Queensland, Australia. In 2025, Haruki completed his debut feature, 100% Pure Rage, a crowd-funded, $3,000 action-comedy film. The film was made over the course of 2 years with friends and family volunteering as cast and crew, shooting during whatever time was available between university and work. The film premieres at SXSW Sydney 2025, marking a significant milestone in his career.

 

Previously, he directed the proof-of-concept short RED-CELL (2022) and Shutter (2023), which won Best Short at the Studs Short Film Fest and received nominations at the Vienna International Film Awards and the Horrific Hope Film Festival. He specialises in writing, directing, editing, and VFX. Fluent in both English and Japanese, Haruki is currently completing his Bachelor of Film and Screen Media Production at Griffith Film School.
